Building a brief

Todays workshop has shown us how essential it is, to be able to constuct and even break down briefs so we understand the concept and see its full potential.
Fred demonstrated a technique which allowed us to take 3 key oponents from a list based around themes/subjects and the design disciplines we intend to use in our investigation.

The statement:

'A(n) ................. investigation of .................with a focus on ................'

My Statements:

'A typographic investigation of mountain biking with a focus on publication'

'A typographic investigation of electronic music with a focus on identity and album artwork'

'An identity investigation of energy drinks with a focus on audience and promotion'

'A photographic investigation of snow boarding with a focus on layout and publication'

'A layout investigation of album artwork with a focus on high end printing'

This part of the workshop guided me to the importance of fully understanding a brief before i start my design process. Making sure the language is correct all the way through, from concept stage to final resolution, readability and communication is essential.
The next post will demonstrate how this technique will also help us build the foundations of our contextual publication, which will show all the research which we have investigated since day 1 of the fmp.
